NRI kids.. a bane or a boon?

There is an increasing population of Indian parents whose kids have moved abroad to pursue better education, better career or in some cases their better halves. Whatever may be the reason, there remains a question about their ability to take care of their aging parents. This question has been bugging me for last 4 years.

When I left for US, 10 years ago, it was a big deal for me,  for my family and even for my neighborhood. Not many people had gone abroad for studies at least from the place I am coming from. Before leaving India, just like so many other NRIs I made a promise to myself and to my parents that I will return to India. 10 years have passed and I am yet to return. I am also realizing that there is huge number of people out there in similar situation.
